Are you struggling with loose, sagging skin on your thighs that won’t respond to diet and exercise? A thigh lift at Truly You Med Spa can help you achieve the smoother, more toned lower body you’ve always dreamed of. Our expert surgeons use advanced techniques to remove excess skin and fat, reshaping your thighs for a more youthful and proportionate appearance.
What is a Thigh Lift?
A thigh lift, also called a thighplasty, is a surgery designed to reshape the thighs by removing excess skin and fat and creating new contours.
During a thigh lift, your Truly You surgeon will make carefully placed incisions to first remove the excess skin and fat, then tighten the remaining skin for a smoother and more visibly toned silhouette. The result is slimmer, more shapely thighs that better complement your overall body contours.
Issues Addressed by a Thigh Lift:
- Drooping skin on the inner or outer thigh areas
- Excess fat deposits in the thigh area
- Disproportionate thigh contours
- Skin laxity due to significant weight loss or aging
Benefits of a Thigh Lift
A thigh lift can provide numerous aesthetic and functional benefits beyond just improving your legs’ appearance. This transformative surgery procedure removes excess skin and fat, resulting in smoother, firmer thighs with improved contours and proportions.
Many patients experience reduced chafing and skin irritation, enhancing their comfort in daily activities. A thigh lift can also lead to better-fitting clothes and increased confidence in swimwear, contributing to an enhanced overall lower body appearance. Some patients even report improvements in mobility and comfort during physical activities.
Beyond these physical benefits, many of our Truly You Med Spa patients report feeling more confident and comfortable in their bodies after a thigh lift, enjoying a renewed sense of self-esteem and body image. This boost in self-confidence can positively impact various aspects of their lives.
Ideal Thigh Lift Candidates
The ideal candidate for a thighplasty is someone who has excess soft tissue on any part of their thighs and is at or near their ideal body weight with no further significant weight loss expected.
Good overall health is essential, with no significant medical conditions that might complicate surgery or hinder your recovery. Potential patients should maintain realistic expectations about the procedure, recovery process and results.
A thigh lift is not a procedure to be used for achieving weight loss, it’s a contouring surgery designed to reshape the thighs. If you’re significantly overweight, we may recommend achieving a stable, healthy weight before considering a thigh lift to ensure the best possible outcomes. It’s crucial to have maintained their weight for at least six months before considering the procedure.
Non-smokers, or those who will quit smoking before and after surgery, are preferred candidates due to the impact smoking can have during anesthesia and for proper healing. Good skin elasticity is also beneficial for optimal results.
Types of Thigh Lifts
At Truly You Med Spa, we offer several types of thigh lift procedures to address different concerns and body types. Your surgeon will recommend the best approach for you based on the discussion of your circumstances and wishes during your consultation.
Inner Thigh Lift
This procedure targets excess skin and fat on the inner thighs. Incisions typically start in the groin area, extending downward or toward the buttock crease.
Outer Thigh Lift
This technique addresses the outer and front thighs. Incisions are usually made from the groin around the hip.
Circumferential Thigh Lift
This comprehensive procedure treats the entire upper leg, including the front, back, inner and outer thighs. It’s often combined with a buttock lift for patients who have experienced massive weight loss.
Mini Thigh Lift
This is a less invasive option, suitable mainly for patients with minimal excess skin. It involves smaller incisions and less downtime.
Complementary Procedures
For more comprehensive body contouring, many patients choose to combine their thigh lift with other procedures:
Liposuction
Adding liposuction to your thigh lift can enhance your results by removing stubborn fat deposits and further refining your thigh contours.
Tummy Tuck
Combining a thigh lift with a tummy tuck can provide a more dramatic lower-body transformation, addressing both the thighs and the abdominal area.
Buttock Lift
Combining a thigh lift with a buttock lift can provide more comprehensive lower body rejuvenation for patients who have lost significant weight.
The Thigh Lift Process
Consultation
Your thigh lift journey begins with a comprehensive consultation at Truly You Med Spa. During this one-on-one meeting, your surgeon will thoroughly evaluate your thighs and confirm your overall health status. You’ll discuss your specific concerns and goals, review your medical history and current medications and review the details of a thigh lift procedure. Your surgeon will show you before and after photos of previous thigh lift patients to give you a clear idea of what to expect. This is your opportunity to ask questions and voice any concerns. Based on this thorough assessment, your surgeon will recommend the best approach and curate a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs and goals.
Preparation
To prepare for your thigh lift, we recommend several essential steps. First, focus on achieving and maintaining a stable weight, as significant weight fluctuations can affect your results. If you’re a smoker, it’s crucial to cease smoking at least six weeks before the surgery date to promote optimal healing. Your surgeon will provide guidance on medications and supplements to avoid leading up to the procedure. It’s essential to arrange a dedicated helper to drive you home after the procedure and stay with you for the first 24-48 hours. Lastly, prepare a comfortable recovery area at home with pillows, loose clothing, and other essentials within easy reach.
Surgery
The thigh lift procedure typically takes around 2-3 hours, depending on the extent of correction needed. You’ll be under general anesthesia for your comfort and safety throughout the surgery. Your surgeon will make the predetermined incisions based on your specific type of thigh lift. They will then remove skin and fat and redrape and tighten the remaining skin to create smoother contours. The incisions will be closed with removable sutures and possibly drains to remove excess fluid. Finally, a compression garment will be applied to support your new contours, minimize swelling, and aid in the healing process.
Recovery
During recovery, you’ll wear a compression garment to minimize swelling and support your new shape. It’s normal to experience some discomfort, redness, swelling and bruising for a few weeks. Most patients return to work within 2-3 weeks, depending on the nature of their job. However, avoiding strenuous activities and exercising for 6-8 weeks is vital for proper healing. Your surgeon will provide detailed recovery guidelines, and following all post-operative instructions carefully for optimal healing is crucial.
Results
While you’ll notice an immediate improvement after your thigh lift, it’s important to understand that your final results will emerge gradually over the next few months. This allows time for swelling to subside and tissues to settle into their new position. Most patients find that their new thigh contours significantly boost their personal confidence. Many enjoy wearing a broader range of clothing options comfortably.
To enjoy long-lasting results from your thigh lift, it’s important to follow a few key guidelines. First and foremost, maintain a stable weight through a balanced diet and regular exercise. This will help preserve your new contours and prevent stretching of the skin. Staying hydrated and eating a nutritious diet is crucial for supporting overall skin health, which contributes to the longevity of your results. It’s essential to protect your incisions from excessive sun exposure, especially in the months following your procedure.
Make it a habit to wear sunscreen daily on any exposed areas, not just to protect your incisions but also to maintain the overall health and appearance of your skin. Lastly, be sure to attend all follow-up appointments with your surgeon. These check-ups allow us to monitor your healing progress and address any concerns promptly, ensuring the best possible long-term outcome for your thigh lift.
