Fat Grafting
A revolutionary solution to restore volume and youthful contours to your face or body using your own fat cells.
Long-lasting Improvements
Fat grafting at Truly You Med Spa offers a revolutionary solution to restore volume and youthful contours to your face or body using your own fat cells. Our expert surgeons use advanced techniques to harvest, process and inject fat to create subtle, long-lasting improvements that look and feel entirely natural.
What Is Fat Grafting?
Fat grafting, also known as fat transfer or lipofilling, is a cosmetic procedure that involves taking fat from one area of your body where it's in excess and transferring it to another location that needs volume enhancement.
This innovative technique allows us to use your body's own natural resources to:
- Restore lost volume in the face
- Enhance breast size and shape
- Improve body contours
- Rejuvenate hands
- Correct irregularities from previous surgeries
Benefits of
Fat Grafting
Fat grafting offers numerous advantages over traditional fillers or implants:
- Natural Results: Since we're using your own fat cells, the results look and feel completely natural.
- Long-Lasting: While your body may reabsorb some of the transferred fat, a significant portion will establish a blood supply and survive long-term.
- Dual Benefits: You get the added benefit of slimming the donor area while enhancing the target area.
- Versatility: Fat grafting can address a wide range of aesthetic concerns in various face and body areas.
- Low Risk of Allergic Reaction: Since we're using your own tissue, there's minimal risk of allergic reaction or rejection.
- Improved Skin Quality: Fat grafting can improve the quality and texture of the overlying skin due to stem cells in the transferred fat.
Ideal Candidates
This may be your treatment of choice if you:
- Have areas of your body with excess fat that can be used as donor sites
- Are looking for a natural alternative to synthetic fillers or implants
- Have volume loss in your face, breasts, buttocks or other areas of your body
- Are in good overall health without significant medical conditions
- Understand and maintain realistic expectations
- Are a non-smoker or willing to quit
- Have good skin elasticity in the treatment areas
It's important to note that fat grafting is not a weight loss procedure. It's designed to reshape and enhance specific areas of your body using your own fat cells. If you're significantly overweight, we may recommend achieving a stable, healthy weight before considering fat grafting.
Complementary Procedures
Liposuction pairs well with several other body contouring
treatments for genuinely transformative results:
Fat Transfer
Rather than discarding harvested fat, it can be purified and strategically injected into other areas to add natural-looking volume and shape. A fat transfer can enhance your liposuction results by filling out the buttocks, breasts, face, hands or any area that could benefit from the added volume. A petite BBL (Brazilian butt lift) uses a smaller amount of fat to reshape the body of thinner patients.
Renuvion Skin Tightening
Renuvion takes your liposuction results to the next level by heating subdermal tissue to tighten and firm loose, crepey skin. While liposuction removes excess fat, it cannot address loose or sagging skin. That's where Renuvion comes in. By delivering radiofrequency energy and cold helium plasma beneath the skin's surface to contract tissue and stimulate collagen production, Renuvion is an excellent addition for areas that have experienced skin laxity due to aging, weight fluctuations or pregnancy. Combined with liposuction, Renuvion produces dramatically tighter, smoother, more youthful-looking skin nearly anywhere.
Mini Tummy Tuck
Combining liposuction with a mini tummy tuck comprehensively reshapes the belly in a single procedure. A mini tummy tuck involves a short, discreet incision to remove excess abdominal skin. Pairing a mini tummy tuck with liposuction achieves a flatter, smoother, more toned abdomen in only ten weeks..
The Fat Grafting Process
Consultation
Your fat grafting journey begins with a comprehensive Truly You Med Spa consultation. During this one-on-one meeting, your surgeon will evaluate your areas of concern and potential donor sites, discuss your specific aesthetic goals and review your medical history and current medications.
They will explain the fat grafting procedure in detail, including risks and benefits, and show you before and after photos of previous fat grafting patients. Your surgeon will answer all your questions, address any concerns and recommend the best approach for your unique needs.
We encourage you to come prepared with questions and be open about your expectations. This helps us create a personalized treatment plan that aligns with your goals and lifestyle, ensuring that you feel confident and informed about your fat grafting procedure.
Preparation
To prepare for your fat grafting procedure, we recommend maintaining a stable weight and stopping smoking at least six weeks before the procedure. It's important to avoid certain medications and supplements as directed by your surgeon to ensure optimal safety and results.
We advise arranging for someone to drive you home after the procedure and stay with you for the first 24 hours to assist with your immediate recovery needs. Additionally, preparing a recovery area at home with comfortable pillows, loose clothing and easy-to-reach essentials will help ensure a smooth and comfortable recovery process. Following these preparation guidelines will help set the stage for a successful fat grafting procedure and recovery.
Procedure
The fat grafting procedure typically involves three main steps:
- Harvesting: Your surgeon will extract fat from the chosen donor area(s) using gentle liposuction techniques. This is usually done under local anesthesia or light sedation.
- Processing: The harvested fat is carefully purified and prepared for transfer. This involves removing impurities and separating the healthy fat cells for injection.
- Injection: The processed fat is then precisely injected into the target areas in small amounts to ensure even distribution and optimal survival of the fat cells.
The entire procedure usually takes 1-3 hours, depending on the extent of the treatment areas.
Recovery
Recovery from fat grafting is generally well-tolerated, but expect swelling and bruising in both the donor and recipient areas which will gradually subside. You may experience some discomfort, which can typically be managed with prescribed pain medication.
Most patients can return to light activities within a few days to a week, but still need to avoid strenuous movement or exercise for 2-4 weeks or as directed by your surgeon. And wear compression garments as instructed to minimize swelling and support your new contours.
Results
While you'll see an immediate improvement after your fat grafting procedure, your body may reabsorb some of the transferred fat in the first few months. Your true results will emerge over the next 3-6 months as the surviving fat cells establish a blood supply and settle properly into their new location.
Most patients find that their enhanced contours look natural and feel soft to the touch. The results of fat grafting can be long-lasting, especially when combined with a healthy lifestyle.
