Body Lift

Advanced techniques to remove excess skin and fat, tightening and reshaping multiple areas of your body for a more toned, youthful appearance.

Achieve the sleek, tone
physique of your dreams.

It’s a fantastic feeling to get healthier and achieve the significant weight loss that will transform your life. But excess, sagging skin obscuring your new contours can lessen some of those celebratory emotions.

However, a body lift at Truly You Med Spa can help you complete your transformation, revealing the sculpted figure you’ve worked so hard to achieve. Our expert surgeons use advanced techniques to remove excess skin and fat, tightening and reshaping multiple areas of your body for a more toned, youthful appearance.

What is a Body Lift?

A body lift, also known as a belt lipectomy, is a comprehensive surgical procedure designed to remove excess skin and fat from multiple body areas, typically following massive weight loss or pregnancy. This procedure can address issues such as extra skin on the abdomen, buttocks and thighs, excess fat deposits that persist despite weight loss and lack of skin elasticity due to aging or significant weight fluctuations. It also helps correct disproportionate body contours.

During a body lift, your surgeon will make carefully placed incisions to remove excess tissue. The remaining skin is smoothed and tightened for a more toned appearance. The result is a proportionate figure that better reflects your weight loss achievements and enhances your overall body contours. This transformative procedure can significantly improve your body’s shape and contour, helping you achieve the figure you’ve worked hard to attain.

Benefits of a Body Lift

A body lift can provide numerous aesthetic and functional benefits:

  • Removal of excess skin that can cause chafing, rashes and hygiene issues
  • Improved body contours and proportions
  • Enhanced mobility and comfort during physical activities
  • Better-fitting clothes and increased confidence in swimwear
  • Reduced back pain and improved posture
  • Potential improvement in skin conditions caused by overlapping skin folds
  • A more youthful and toned overall appearance

Many of our patients report feeling more confident and comfortable in their bodies after a body lift, enjoying a renewed sense of self-esteem and body image. The procedure can be life-changing, completing your weight loss journey.

Ideal Clients for Body Lift Surgery

To enjoy long-lasting results from your body lift, it’s crucial to maintain a stable weight through a balanced diet and regular exercise. Staying hydrated and consuming a nutritious diet will support skin health and overall well-being. It’s important to protect your incisions from excessive sun exposure and apply sunscreen daily to any exposed areas.

Developing a consistent skincare routine will help maintain skin elasticity. Attend all follow-up appointments with your surgeon to monitor your progress. While a body lift can dramatically improve your body contours, maintaining a healthy lifestyle is essential to preserve your results long-term.

A body lift is not a weight loss procedure. It’s designed to contour and reshape your body by removing excess skin and some fat, not to remove large amounts of fat. If you’re still losing weight, it’s best to wait until you’ve reached your goal before considering a body lift.

By adhering to these guidelines, you can help ensure that your body lift results remain beautiful and satisfying for years to come. Your commitment to a healthy lifestyle plays a significant role in the longevity of your surgical results.

Types of Body Lifts

At Truly You Med Spa, we offer several types of body lift procedures to address different concerns and body types:

  1. Lower Body Lift: This procedure addresses the abdomen, hips, buttocks, and outer thighs. It’s often the most comprehensive option for those who have lost weight.
  2. Upper Body Lift: This technique focuses on the upper back, chest, and arms. It’s particularly beneficial for those experiencing sagging in the upper body region.
  3. Total Body Lift: This combines both lower and upper body lifts for a complete body transformation. It’s typically performed in stages to ensure patient safety and optimal results.
  4. Medial Thigh Lift: While often part of a lower body lift, this can be performed separately to address excess skin on the inner thighs.
  5. Arm Lift (Brachioplasty): This procedure removes excess skin from the upper arms, often included in an upper body lift but can be performed separately.

Your Truly You surgeon will recommend the best approach for your specific needs and goals.

Complementary Procedures

For more comprehensive body contouring, many patients choose to combine their body lift with other procedures:

Liposuction

Adding liposuction to your body lift can enhance your results by removing stubborn fat deposits and further refining your body contours.

Breast Lift or Augmentation

For women who have experienced significant breast sagging or volume loss, adding a breast procedure can provide a more complete upper body transformation.

Facial Rejuvenation

Some patients who have lost significant weight also experience facial aging. Combining a body lift with facial procedures like a facelift or neck lift can provide a more comprehensive rejuvenation.

The Body Lift Process

1

Consultation

Your body lift journey begins with a comprehensive Truly You Med Spa consultation. During this one-on-one meeting, your surgeon will evaluate your overall health and body contours and discuss your concerns and aesthetic goals.

They will review your medical history, including details about your weight loss journey, and explain the body lift procedure, covering risks and benefits. Your surgeon will show you before and after photos of previous body lift patients, answer all your questions and address your concerns. Based on this thorough assessment, they will recommend the best surgical approach for your unique needs.

We encourage you to come prepared with questions and be open about your expectations. This helps us create a personalized treatment plan that aligns with your goals and lifestyle.

2

Preparation

To prepare for your body lift, we recommend maintaining a stable weight for at least six months and stopping smoking at least six weeks before surgery. Your surgeon will advise you on avoiding certain medications and supplements.

We recommend that someone drive you home after the procedure and stay with you for the first few days. Prepare a recovery area at home with comfortable pillows, loose clothing and easy-to-reach essentials. Be sure to follow any specific pre-operative instructions provided by your surgeon.

3

Procedure

A body lift is a major surgical procedure that typically takes 4-8 hours, depending on the extent of the surgery. You’ll be under general anesthesia for your comfort and safety. Your surgeon will make incisions according to the predetermined surgical plan.

A lower body lift typically involves an incision that extends around the waist, while an upper body lift may involve incisions around the back and under the breasts. Excess skin and fat are removed, and the remaining skin is redraped and tightened. Underlying tissues may also be reshaped and tightened.

Liposuction may be used to remove additional fat and refine contours. Incisions will be closed with sutures, and drains may be placed to remove excess fluid. You’ll be fitted with compression garments to support your new contours and minimize swelling.

4

Recovery

Recovery from a body lift is a gradual process that requires patience and careful adherence to your surgeon’s instructions. You’ll need to wear compression garments for several weeks to minimize swelling and support your new contours. Expect some discomfort, swelling and bruising for the first few weeks. Pain can be managed with prescribed medication.

Most patients can return to light activities within 2-3 weeks, but full recovery can take 4-6 weeks or more. Avoid strenuous activities and exercise for 6-8 weeks or as your surgeon directs. You’ll need to sleep and rest in certain positions to avoid straining your incisions.

Follow all post-operative instructions carefully for optimal healing and attend all follow-up appointments to ensure proper healing. Your surgeon will provide detailed recovery guidelines and will be available to address any concerns throughout your healing process.

5

Results

While you’ll see an immediate improvement after your body lift, your final results will emerge over the next several months as swelling subsides and tissues settle. Most patients find that their new body contours dramatically boost their confidence and allow them to enjoy a wider range of clothing options. The scars from a body lift are significant but are typically placed where they can be hidden by most clothing and swimwear.
